From February 15-24, the golden sands of Surfers Paradise Beach will be transformed into a fascinating outdoor gallery of beautiful and curious artwork for the 2013 Australian Sand Sculpting Championships.
The annual all-ages event brings together the best in art and culture and attracts a host of ultra-talented sand sculptors and art lovers from all over the country to Surfers Paradise every year. A new theme is chosen each year for the championships (last year’s theme was pirates) and the artists put their creative minds at work to present their weird and wonderful interpretations. Each artist faces a gruelling judging process and there’s a fantastic cash prize up for grabs for the sculpture that captures the heart of the judges and crowd.
